Admission to Government Engineering College Banka is governed by the rules of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB). There are now two sequential pathways for 1st-year B.Tech admission.
Important Update:Admission is primarily based on JEE (Main) via UGEAC Counselling. However, seats remaining vacant after UGEAC are now filled through the state-level BCECE (PCM/PCMB) Exam.
For candidates entering after 10+2 (Intermediate)
Must have a valid score in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main conducted by NTA. This is the primary route for filling the majority of the seats.
Candidates who missed JEE Main can appear for the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE). Remaining vacant seats are allotted via this exam's merit list.
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology. Min 45% (Gen) / 40% (Reserved).
Direct admission to 2nd Year for Diploma/B.Sc holders
Passed Minimum 3-year Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category) in any branch of Engineering and Technology.
Admission is based on the merit list of Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (Lateral Entry).

All selected candidates must undergo a medical checkup. Admission is provisional subject to medical fitness upon reporting to the campus.
